Abstract

Valuelinks methodology aims to improve the understanding of the value chain and its development as a structural change of the market-oriented economy.

Learning Objectives

The training focuses on helping you get an introduction to the value chain promotion approach,  value chain analysis and strategy development tools for value chain upgrading. You can apply this methodology to different sectors, from agriculture and food processing to manufacturing industries and services sectors such as eco-tourism. You will experience the value chain approach at different stages of development and in combination with other approaches, e.g. regional development or natural resource management.

Contents

In the introduction, you will get a short overview of the ValueLinks modules 1-4, covering the design of value chain projects, the selection of value chains as well as methods for analysis and strategy formulation. With these modules:

  • You will be equipped with private sector development know-how in agriculture, industry and service sectors
  • You will get a sound understanding of value chain analysis with a comprehensive economic, social and environmental sustainability perspective.
  • You will learn how to facilitate the development of value chain upgrading strategies in cooperation with the private sector for alleviating poverty, improving gender equity and using natural resources sustainably.
